COVID-19 Update May 5, 2020

Per the Governor’s Executive order, you must wear a mask when you are in public and will need to have one on when entering our office. Prior to entering the facilities, a member of our team will take your temperature, and ask you a series of COVID-19 questions adapted from the CDC.
Please note, that guests or family members are asked to stay in their vehicles to further our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect our staff and patients.
During the current COVID-19 crisis, please consider the CDC’s recommended precautions before, during and after your visit:
• Reschedule your appointment if you are sick or have been exposed to COVID-19.
• Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
In addition to implementing safety measures for our patients, we will also be implementing screening protocols for our staff. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 crisis and are following the guidance and expertise of the Centers for Disease Control and Infection (CDC), the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), state and local public health
officials, the Illinois Optometric Association (IOA) and the American Optometric Association (AOA).
If you need to reschedule your appointment or have further questions, please contact us at 708-349-2600 (Orland Park Office) or 708-425-6500 (Oak Lawn Office).
Thank you for your patience with us during this time,
Drs. Leahy and DiSalvo-Ost & Associates and Staff
Current CDC guidelines and Illinois Optometric Association recommendations are that optometrists postpone any routine eye care but remain available to our patients for emergencies. This is an effort to “flatten” the trajectory of the epidemic while offering emergency services to our patients, thus sparing much-needed emergency room capacity.
We are temporarily limiting our office visits to urgent eye care only for the next few weeks. After April 7th we plan to resume annual routine exams, contact lens fittings, and glasses adjustments. Please call us to schedule your future appointment.
For all of our protection, please do not walk into the office during this period. We will do our best to accommodate your non-emergency needs such as contact lens orders, but we will need to either mail them or bring them to your car. We want to be part of the effort to stop the spread of the virus and appreciate your understanding and loyalty during this trying episode.
Our telephone hours between March 22 and April 7 will be:
Orland Park (708) 349-2600
Monday through Friday 9-3
Oak Lawn (708) 425-6500
Monday through Friday 10-1
***IN THE EVENT THAT YOUR ROUTINE EYE EXAM IS POSTPONED, WE ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO ORDER A SUPPLY OF CONTACT LENSES IN YOUR CURRENT PRESCRIPTION TO BE DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME. IN ADDITION, WE WILL WAIVE THE SHIPPING FEES.***
Our after-hours emergency phone number for current patients is (708) 334-2715.
Please stay well and we hope to see you very soon.
Check back for updates.
